Bachelor of Science in
Tourism: The Bachelor’s degree course in tourism at the HTW
Chur is distinctive for its orientation towards practical
experience and for the limited number of places on the course,
for the international nature of its students and teaching staff,
and for its tightly-woven network of partner companies, research
cooperation projects and partner universities. The Bachelor’s
course in tourism sets particular value on an integrated
education in tourism, focusing on international tourism and
leisure management. Three full-time classes are run each year,
two of them taught in German and English, and one in English
only.

Master of Science in
Business Administration, Major in Tourism
The HTW Chur Master’s degree
course in business administration with a major in tourism is
consistently international in outlook and oriented towards
specialised management training. It combines economic sciences
procedures with practical orientation at the highest level. The
limited number of places on the course, together with the fact
that all classes are conducted exclusively in English by
lecturers of international repute, guarantees the high quality
of this postgraduate course. The Master’s course with a major in
tourism as
a postgraduate course in business administration and as a
subject-specific intensive course in tourism is focused in
principle on every subject area. Emphasis is placed on the
development of tourism products and services as well as on
innovation and destination management in a regional, national
and international context. The programme of studies is offered
exclusively in English and may be completed on a full- or
part-time basis.

University of Applied
Sciences, HTW Chur
The origins of the HTW Chur lie
more than 40 years in the past. In its current form, the
university dates from the year 2000. Together with the
University of Applied Sciences of Technology NTB Buchs, the
University of Applied Sciences of Technology HSR Rapperswil and
the University of Applied Sciences FHS St. Gallen, it is part of
the University of Applied Sciences Eastern Switzerland (FHO).

What are the
entry requirements?
BSc Tourism Degree:
Applicants are admitted without an entrance examination if they
hold one of the following:
- a commercial vocational
school-leaving certificate fulfilling university entrance
requirements (Berufsmatura) recognised in Switzerland;
- a vocational
school-leaving certificate fulfilling university entrance
requirements (Berufsmatura), recognised in Switzerland in a
non-commercial field, as long as the applicant can prove
vocational practical experience in a commercial activity in
the field of business or administration, ideally in tourism,
of at least one year before admission to the course;
- an academic school-leaving
certificate fulfilling university entrance requirements (Gymnasialmatura),
recognised in Switzerland; the requirements relating to
practical experience apply correspondingly;
- another, comparable,
school-leaving certificate. The requirements relating to
practical experience apply correspondingly.
MSc Degree: Admission to
the MSc in Business Administration
with a Major in Tourism requires a Bachelor’s degree or diploma
from an institute of higher education in business
administration, economic sciences, commercial law, industrial
engineering or tourism. There are special admission conditions
for applicants with other degrees.
