Google's conquest of online advertising - a step further with Audio Ads Beta on the AdWords system

Google is in the process of launching Audio advertising through the Google AdWords system. While the official site http://audioads.google.com currently appears on seach results, the site is not live yet. Interested parties can find information on the Beta here though.

Google in the process of launching audio ads through AdWords

An explanation of the Audio Ads system on the official Google site:
"What is Audio Ads? Google Audio Ads is an extension of the AdWords platform, allowing advertisers to create and manage radio advertising campaigns using AdWords' powerful online interface. Audio Ads offers detailed reporting, targeting by demographic, location, and station type, and provides easy access to the huge market reached by radio programming. Using the reports in your AdWords account, you'll be able to see how much you're spending, where your ad is playing and when, and even listen to a recording of your ad as it was played on the radio! Tracking radio spending has never been this easy."

Other comments on the Google Audio Ads system on ClickZ:
Google Audio Ads are sold on a CPM basis through the AdWords platform, and advertisers can target on factors like geographical market and time of day. Reporting functions disclose which stations ran ads and when, and real-time air checks are available, a bit of a novelty for interactive marketers who have grown used to not seeing their non-search executions.

Ads must be in MP3 format and no longer than 30 seconds. Google has also set up what it's calling an "ad creation marketplace," which will offer to pair advertisers with the providers of audio production services. These firms, which Google suggests will charge from $100 to $1,000 to create an ad, will take care of the voiceover, recording and encoding processes -- everything but the copywriting. Marketers can also bring their own spot.
