Visit http://checkout.google.com for an overview of Google's new online payment system, which promises shoppers a safe and secure online shopping experience. Users create one account with credit card info with Google's Checkout tool and don't have to share their email address and credit card information again with retailers that support the Google Checkout option. This promises to be quite convenient for shoppers, of course, but retailers are worried about losing control and access to valuable direct contact / marketing information from customers. Smaller retailers should benefit, though, with a wider reach with Google and reduced hassles with processing payments.
