Nepal’s first tourism training center was established back in 1972, but now there are already 7 private hotel management Colleges in Nepal, catering over 500 Nepalese students every year. However, the number of big hotels could not increase in the same ratio therefore it is quite obvious that the Nepalese hotel management graduates see their future career in abroad than in Nepal. Speaking at the ceremony Founder and CEO of GATE College Mr. Khem Raj Lakai said “We must analyze the underlying challenges and be prepared to meet the expectations of national and international job providers especially when global recession is hitting harder sparing no one and Nepal can not be an exception.” Mr. Lakai added that Nepal has long been recognized as one of the popular travel destinations because of the Himalayas, and rich culture all inherited by our forefather but in order to win the heart of modern tourists, world-class quality service is the most and in order to provide quality service, we have to upgrade our education and training system.
