SSTH Alumni get-together in Dubai at the popular Barasti Bar on Jumeirah Beach
Dubai is home to quite a few SSTH Swiss School Alumni - a few alumni got together early this April at Barasti Bar (Le Meridien Mina Seyahi) to network and catch up. Included were alumni now working in Banking and Security, plus hoteliers from Jumeirah International, One & Only Royal Mirage and the Mina Seyahi Complex itself. The meeting was hosted by SSTH Marketing Manager Jolanda Rechsteiner and UAE Alumni Chapter President Jitendra Jain (JJ).
SSTH Swiss Hotel School Alumni Chapter in the UAE now has an online base
Alumni of SSTH Passugg / Chur and HTF (Switzerland) now have an online communication base on the YoungHotelier.com TEA Lounge. The forum is a free tool that alumni can register on and start or reply to new topics and discussions. Hotel Management Education in Nepal - GATE Nepal makes a debut
Nepal is fast making a name in hospitality...and Hotel Management Education! GATE is the latest hospitality academy to make its debut in this beautiful country and plans to offer professional hotel education in combination with Swiss Hotel School - SSTH (Passugg / Chur). GATE has also announced a strong drive towards international ISO certification and strong ties with global Coffee trademark Illy Cafe and will introduce a branch as well as Barrista courses in the future. The school also announced scholarships for students from India, something very new to the region. Last Saturday the GAM and the Swiss School Homecoming 2007 took place. 65 Alumni members found their way to the Passugger Underworld to celebrate a really great evening together. The Project Team of the second semester German division students organised a Mafia Night for the alumni. A beautifully decorated dining room, delicious food and wonderful entertainment from Jude an John (students of the English division) made this event an unforgettable one.

77 students on internship from Swiss School
Beginning of June 77 students from Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality in Chur/Passugg began their internship, which is part of the study plan to finally receive the diploma. For either 6 or 12 months they will be gaining work experience in a department of the hospitality industry, such as in the food & beverage departments including banquet and room service, kitchen, front and back office, administrations or marketing and events.
First AH&LA CHE Workshop in Nepal - Certified Hospitality Educator Session in 4-7 September 2007 at GATE Nepal
Nepal will soon be the host of the first CHE (Certified Hospitality Educator) Workshop in the country. SSTH at the GETEX Dubai and SSTH Alumni Get-together in Dubai
SSTH recently participated at the GETEX Education Fair in Dubai - the stand at the fair was manned by Jolanda Rechsteiner and Patrik Mettler, who were also joined by alumni over the duration of the fair. There was also a get-together for SSTH alumni on the 3rd day of the fair at the Lotus ONE bar at the conference centre, attended by approximately a dozen ex-students from the school who are currently working or visiting Dubai.
