The job application process - Tips on professional conduct
Written Communication
- Ensure you check your email as often as you can – increasingly employers are emailing potential candidates firstly to save time and cost, and secondly to test time and quality of responses.
- Always ensure your emails are professional, and take your time to ensure you have fully read any email request that you receive, and that you answer in full to all points.
- Always send an email cover note or a cover letter for every job application you make. Never just send your CV without any covering letter or email, as it will more than likely just be deleted.
- Do not apply for a job where you clearly do not meet the requirements that they list. Not only will this waste the employers time, but it will frustrate them, and they will be less likely to consider you for another role in the future
